McKay NAPA Helps Make Wishes Come True for Illinois Children in 2020

While lots of things have changed in 2020, one thing that has remained the same is the commitment McKay NAPA AUTO PARTS has made to Make-A-Wish Illinois. Despite the pandemic, McKay was able to raise $53,702.02 through the annual golf tournament and live auction, both held at Rolling Hills Golf Course in Godfrey, Illinois, where one of the 23 McKay NAPA stores is located.

The annual raffle for the customized golf cart had to be cancelled due to health and safety concerns associated with promotional events, but McKay customers and friends will have a chance to try their luck next year when the cart will be rolled out for the 2021 Make-A-Wish fundraiser.

23 Years of Support

This is the 23rd year McKay has supported the Illinois Make-A-Wish charity, originally chosen because it reaches children and families in all of the communities were McKay’s NAPA stores are located. Every year, nearly 1,200 children in the state are newly diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition. Make-A-Wish believes wishes are an important part of the overall care and treatment of these children.

Since McKay began its support of Make-A-Wish in 2003, the diligent efforts of its customers, friends, and business associates; as well as NAPA corporate representatives; and McKay employees and corporate owners, have helped raise a total of $592,415.20.

In a video to McKay employees, Stephanie Springs, Make-A-Wish CEO told viewers a little girl from Carlinville, the home of a McKay NAPA store, was granted her wish to go to Disney World back in February.

“Hers was probably one of the last Disney World wishes we granted before we had to put a pause on the travel wishes for safety reasons,” Springs said. “Thank you so much McKay Auto Parts. You’ve been working and doing fundraising for us for nearly 20 years and you’ve raised almost $600,000! Special thanks for all of the extra work you had to do this year because of the conditions we’re all living in now. I hope next year is far more normal as we continue to try to do all the things that are needed for all children.”

Growing Stronger Every Year

Building on its 83 years of service, McKay continues to grow and added store number 23 this year in Vandalia, Illinois. McKay’s new distribution center is about to celebrate a one-year anniversary, ground was broken for new corporate offices in November, and a grand opening of a newly constructed store front at the Litchfield location is planned for mid-December.

In addition to Vandalia, McKay NAPA stores are located in Bethalto, Carlinville, Carlyle, Centralia, Collinsville, Edwardsville, Fairview Heights, Gillespie, Godfrey, Granite City / North, Granite City / South, Greenville, Highland, Hillsboro, Jerseyville, Litchfield, Mount Sterling, Nashville, Nokomis, Staunton, Virden, and Wood River.
